Mental Health First Aid

Did you know that each year 1 in 5 people will experience a mental illness each year?

In October 2021, I completed my Metal Health First Aid. It was a two day course that was full of information about mental health and how we can help people when they need it.

It is something that need to be taken seriously. I had so many take aways from the course but what I found extremely helpful is that early intervention can help to prevent mental illness. Our society have taught us that if you ask for help you are weak and to hide it when we are not feeling well. I believe that if you ask for help you are strong!

There are currently over 4 million people trained globally so we are making a difference and every part counts.

There were parts of the training that were very confronting. I lost my cousin last year who struggled with substances and mental illness. I think of her every day and wonder if there was anything else that could have been done to save her.

My only regret is I wish I did the training sooner.

Let’s break the stigma and work together to help people to live mentally healthy.
